چکیده

Species distribution models are used extensively in predicting the distribution of vegetation across a landscape. Accuracy of the species distribution maps produced by these models deserves attention, since low accuracy maps may lead to erroneous conservation decisions. While plot size is known to influence measures of species richness, its effect on our ability to predict species distribution ranges has not been tested. Our aim is to test whether the accuracy of the distribution maps produced depend on the size of the plot (quadrat) used to collect biological data in Electronic supplementary material The online version of this article (doi:10.1007/s10109-010-0106-8) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users. Prediction of potential habitat distribution of Artemisia sieberi Besser using data-driven methods in Poshtkouh rangelands of Yazd province

The present study aimed to model potential habitat distribution of A. sieberi, and its ecological requirements using generalized additive model (GAM) and classification and regression tree (CART) in in the Poshtkouh rangelands of Yazd province. For this purpose, pure habitats of the species was delineated and the species presence data was recorded by the systematic-randomize sampling method. Us...

How Does Monetary Policy Affect Household Income Distribution?

Over the last decades the research on monetary policy has largely concentrated on the impact of monetary authorities’ decisions on inflation and the fine-tuning of the macroeconomic, so that distributional effects of monetary policy which are non-trivial has been ignored. A view that has become increasingly popular since the financial crisis 2008 is that expansionary monetary policy can exacerb...

Modeling of species richness by macro ecological methods (MEM) and Stacked Species Distribution Models (S-SDM) in Rangelands

Species richness is a simple and interpretable indicator of biodiversity and is one of the most important and and practical measurements in the rangeland ecosystems. Experimental models of richness are used to determine the points of richness of suitable and unsuitable species, and the factors affecting it. The aim of this study is to compare two methods of modeling species richness S-SDM and M...

GIS-based analysis of spatial distribution patterns of growing degree-days for agricultural applications in Iran

The geographical distribution of growing degree-days (GDDs) within Iran was studied using GIS-based maps. GDDs were calculated using daily thermal parameters (daily maximum and minimum air temperature). Based on the purpose of the study and climatic conditions of Iran, the average value of 5?C was chosen for GDD calculation. The calculations were carried out using daily weather data of 113 mete...
